Conceiving an effective strategy requires dispassionate objectivity. The same is true for implementing all of the pieces of that plan. Our experience has taught us that emotion can be a distraction when establishing the right time, selling price, financial presentation, deal structure, implementation, packaging, negotiation, and deal finalization.

Unlike many firms, we invest time to understand the wants and needs of our potential clients, before we contract. If a company or an owner is not properly prepared for a transaction, we believe it is in everyone’s best interest to identify with our client what the potential deal killers are, and augment the weakness. Often we find that some enhancements or cleanup work combined with a brief period of time to institutionalize changes can greatly improve the odds of completing a transaction and improving the owner’s satisfaction with the outcome.

Return expectations, whether monetary or strategic, are the starting point in any valuation process.
